Jennesa’s mission is to support individuals through their mental health journeys, using her diverse background and personal experiences to provide compassionate and effective therapy.


About Jennesa

Jennesa earned her BA in Business Administration and Spanish from Augustana College and her MBA from Northern Illinois University. She spent over a decade at Motorola in international business and marketing before transitioning to work in public schools as a substitute teacher and mentor.

Her journey into parenthood was challenging, as she personally experienced infertility, miscarriage, postpartum depression, adoption, and infant loss. These profound experiences led her to pursue a Master of Social Work degree at Southern Illinois University, focusing on Mental Health.

Jennesa spent the first year of her MSW program as a therapist intern at BZA Behavioral Health in Schaumburg and Lake in the Hills, working with a diverse range of clients. She is now a therapist intern at Thrive Postpartum, Couples, and Family Therapy, where she is excited to work in her area of passion and connect with new clients.

Training

Jennesa has completed the 3-day advanced training in the assessment and treatment of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) through Postpartum Support International. Jennesa will be taking the (PMAD) certification exam in the near future. Jennesa is a member of Postpartum Support International.

Perinatal Loss: Clinical and Supportive Care - Jennesa has successfully completed this training course, which provides an in-depth exploration of perinatal loss, including miscarriage, stillbirth, complex congenital anomalies, and pregnancy decision-making.

The Perinatal Loss – A Framework for Healing Certificate Course. Jennesa has completed this training to support individuals experiencing perinatal loss.

Gottman Level I Trained –Jennesa is currently has completed the Gottman Level I training. She will be applying Gottman-based techniques to help couples build stronger and more meaningful connections.

Community Involvement

Jennesa is very active in the adoptive and foster community. She serves as a district leader for Replanted, a nonprofit support group and ministry for adoptive, foster, and Safe Families.

Personal Interests

In her free time, Jennesa enjoys traveling, reading, gardening, and being outdoors with her family. One of her daily joys is going on walks with her dog Angie, a foster-fail lab mix.
